We are swimmers!

Last week we started our water safety swimming lessons. We had so much fun, lots of us learnt how to float on our backs and how to make a star fish. We especially love when our instructor makes waves that we then have to try and swim through. This week we will be learning more about how to stay safe in the water. Ask us at home what our favourite part about swimming was this week!

We are Pioneers STEAM activity

On Friday we joined with Room 17, we read a story about pioneers and their journey across America. Along their journey they had to find a way to make clean water for them to drink. Our task was to use materials around the school to create a filter to make clean water. We used old bits of fabric, sticks, sand, and rocks. Some of the students water was nearly clear after being filtered.

This task allowed us to show a few of our New Windsor Way Competencies. We had to collaborate as a team to design and collect our items, we showed creativity with our designs and resilience when our filter was not successful.

Describing our book characters

One of our tasks for this week was to describe our favourite book character. First we had to draw our favourite book character and write words to describe them around the outside. Then to share our learning we recorded ourselves describing our characters. James, Keira and Adeline did a fantastic job at presenting their characters.
