Today the snow came to us! We were lucky enough to be able to have snow come to school. We started with lovely snowmen which turned into a class wide snow ball fight. We had an amazing time and it was great to see every one laughing and smiling!
We are a Y3-4 class who share our learning by being confident, creative, collaborative, respectful, responsible and resilient.

Genius Hour
This term we have introduced a new topic called Genius Hour.
This is when students work either individually or in groups to explore, research and learn an area of interest for them. The topic needs to be approved by the class teacher and then the students are responsible for the learning., with support from teacher when needed.
Some projects that we have going on in our class is dress making, sewing teddy bears, creating a video game and learning how to build a working rocket.
This is an amazing session where you really get to see the children passionate about their learning. They show great managing self skills and are eager to share their learning.
Here are some photos.

Leaf Printing
This term our art focus is printmaking. So far we have looked at our fingerprints and the different patterns we can find. We compared them to eat others and discussed how every ones finger print is different.
This week we looked at printing items from outside. The students went outside to collect leaves and sticks. Due to the weather being wet the sticks took to long to dry to use.
Students were allowed to experiment with different colours and different sized leaves. The students learnt then too much paint and you can not seen the pattern of the leaf.

Problem Solving!
This week we had a challenging problem in maths. The students had 16 sticks that had been placed to make 5 squares. The task was to move 2 sticks to make only 4 squares. They showed fantastic problem solving skills, thinking outside of the box and refusing to give up. They worked in partners and individually, then finally in the end all of them working together to tryand solve the problem.
See if you can solve the problem at home!

Athletics Day
An incredible day was had by all last week, so much so we forgot to take more photos. We were very lucky with the weather, making for a lovely sunny day. It was amazing to see all the activities everyone got to try. Even Miss Miller attempting the high jump. The students were on their best behaviour showing all of the school values. We are very lucky that we are able to go to a stadium and participate in an excellent athletics day. Unfortunately due to some late buses we were not able to run the relays. Fingers crossed the teachers will still race us on the school field!

Market Day
WOW! What an amazing day, everyone had such a great time and the whole school was alive with excitement. As a class we decided to make tie dye socks, Oreo truffles, origami and home made carnival games. The students worked hard for weeks making the merchandise and designing our signs.
In the end we made $118 which the students were overwhelmed with. As a class we decided to spend the money on educational board games for the classroom and puzzles.
We hope everyone had as good a day as we did.

Tri Star Gym
Last term to celebrate finishing our gymnastics unit we had a fabulous day out at Tri Star gym. The students had a fantastic time swinging on the ropes, jumping on the trampolines and twirling on the mat. We all experienced a great time and many of us did not want to leave. Here are a few photos.

Week 6: Assembly and Character Study
Last week, Rooms 12 and 13 were on assembly. We were very proud of our students who presented confidently in front of their roopu. Room 13 described characters (personality and how they looked like). Room 12 used their inferencing skills to describe a Moana character. They then changed the song so that the character was more nicer or humble. Their video is below:
Varun, Rehaan and Lukas also made drums.
We also started to learn how to retell using shadow puppets and lightboxes.

Week 4: Swimming Water Safety Skills
For the last two weeks we have been having water safety lessons at swimming. We have been shown how to float when we get into trouble in water. We were lucky enough to be taught how to get ourselves back into a boat if we go over board. These are great skills that will helps us when we are ever in water. We all now feel more confident when swimming or playing in the sea or pool

W2, T3: Book Week
This week we celebrated books!
There was a variety of lunchtime activities in the library - Guess the Character, Design a book cover, Make a bookmark, & Making mini books.
It was fantastic to see people come to school in their PJs and be entertained with the story of Three Billy Goats Gruff.
In class, we read with our buddies, our buddy teachers read to us and we drew our favourite book character. The Wild had to describe the character and how they overcame failure.

Week 1- Stardome and Origami
Our first week back to school was an exciting one! We went on a fantastic trip to the Stardome to finish of our planet inquiry. The students had a great time asking John all types of questions about space. We found out that our research about Jupiter is now wrong as they found another 12 moons and that a new lake had been discovered on Mars. It was a great day and we all learnt heaps of new facts.
Also this week we have been practicing our folding and cutting skills by creating origami. We hope to share our new skills with our buddy classes and teach them how to make their own origami.
